Connect and check your account

Before you start
  • An account with permission to use the HubSpot resources you intend to connect.
1

Open HubSpot in Connections

Choose Connect, or Add connection when offered. Give the connection a name if prompted. If Gateway setup pending appears, contact ApexGenius support before continuing.

Open HubSpot in Connections and choose Connect. HubSpot then opens its own sign-in.

2

Choose the account and review access

Choose Continue to HubSpot. On HubSpot’s own page, sign in to the intended account, choose the portal, and review the requested access before returning to ApexGenius.

HubSpot opens its own sign-in screen. Sign in to the account with access to your intended portal.

3

Review the connected account and resources

Check the saved portal and account identity. If you have more than one HubSpot connection, choose the intended account before reviewing its Tools tab.
4

Check the connection

Use Test connection or Check again and read the reported status. Add an AI agent from the AI agents page, choose Read only for the first test, and try the question below.
Try a first question with your AI agent
Compare the returned account and resource with HubSpot. Check the connection status separately from the result of the first read.

What your AI can do

  • Confirm the connected user, portal and which objects it can read and write.
  • Search and read contacts, companies, deals, tickets, leads and their activities.
  • Query CRM data with HubSpot’s SQL, and find record owners.
  • Read conversations, buyer intent signals, campaign results and marketing email analytics.
  • Create or update CRM records, properties, pipelines, segments, campaigns and landing pages.
Three ApexGenius tools reach HubSpot’s live catalog: one to search it, one to run tools HubSpot marks read-only, and one for everything else. Reads use the read route, so an AI agent set to Read only can use them. Enabled writes run immediately. Turn a tool off to block calls.

Access and limits

  • HubSpot decides which tools a portal gets, from its subscription and your user permissions. Ask your AI to run get_user_details to see yours.
  • AI search tools need Marketing Hub Professional or Enterprise. Quotes need Revenue Hub Professional or Enterprise.
  • When Sensitive Data is on in HubSpot, activity and conversation data does not reach the MCP.
  • search_crm_objects returns up to 200 records a page. get_crm_objects reads up to 100 ids at once.
  • HubSpot’s MCP creates and updates records but does not delete them. Publishing a landing page makes it public.
  • Disconnecting stops future access. It does not undo a change that already ran.
If a layer fails (the connection, the tools, or the skill), HubSpot is partially ready. A saved sign-in by itself does not make the connector usable.

Troubleshooting

  • A tool is missing: your HubSpot subscription or user permissions do not include it. Check get_user_details.
  • Reconnect required: the HubSpot grant was revoked or expired. Choose Reconnect and sign in again.
  • A change is refused: the AI agent is set to Read only, or the write tool is off.
