ChatGPT connects to ApexGenius as a custom MCP app at:
ChatGPT’s custom MCP setup is currently a web workflow. Developer mode, full MCP access, and write behavior depend on your ChatGPT plan, workspace permissions, and app action controls. If you cannot see Create, ask your workspace admin to check the current Apps settings.

Create the app

Enable developer mode

Open Settings, then Apps, then Advanced Settings, and enable developer mode if your workspace makes that control available to you. Admins and owners can also begin from Workspace settings, then Apps, then Create.

Create the ApexGenius app

From Settings > Apps or Workspace settings > Apps, select Create. Name the app ApexGenius, provide a clear internal description, and enter https://server.autom8.pro/mcp as the MCP server endpoint.

Choose OAuth

Select OAuth as the authentication mechanism. Do not paste an ApexGenius password, access token, or Salesforce credential into the app configuration.

Scan tools and authorize

Select Scan Tools. When ChatGPT opens the authorization prompt, sign in to ApexGenius and approve the connection. Wait for the tool scan to finish, then select Create.

Select the draft app

Open a new chat and select ApexGenius from the ChatGPT tools menu. A newly created app may appear as a draft or with a Dev label until a workspace admin publishes it.

Verify the connection

With ApexGenius selected for the message, ask:
Check that the answer comes from the intended Salesforce project and environment. App selection applies to the message that uses it, so select or mention ApexGenius again when a later message needs fresh data.

Before a workspace rollout

  • Review the actions returned by the tool scan.
  • Test the draft app before publishing it.
  • Confirm which members or groups may use it.
  • Review write and modify actions separately from read actions.
  • Refresh and review actions when the server’s tool definitions change.
ChatGPT may request confirmation for a write based on app permissions and context, and some actions may be blocked. Treat the visible confirmation as a client control, not as proof that the requested target is correct.
